Minulla on jonkin sortin pyörre otsan hiusrajassa, joten normaali otsis ei edes näyttänyt hyvältä. Niin no, lisäksi halusin tehdä myös muunlaisia kampauksia ja kiehkuraa otsalle, lisäsyitä otsatukan pois kasvattamiselle.
Oikeaoppinen tuuhea Bettie bangs ei onnistu omilla hiuksillani, koska ne ovat suomalaisen tyypilliset: ohuet sekä hennot. Lisäksi niitä on tuossa otsan ja ohimon alueella jopa harvemmalti kuin takana. Joten tarvitsin valkin antamaan tukea ja volyymia. Mutta, löytyykö valkkeja punertavalla sävyllä? No ei. Löytyy mustaa, blondia sekä brunettia, mutta ei minkäänlaista punatukkaista sävyä. Tässäpä dilemma, koska valkin käytössä on ehdottoman tärkeää se, että valkin väri on mahdollisimman lähellä omien hiusten väriä. Ikävä olisi jos hiusten välistä pilkottaisi jotain muuta väriä, varsinkin tämmöisessä klassisessa kampauksessa.
Asiaan on vain yksi ratkaisu, tehdä se valkki itse.
Valkin voi tehdä ainakin kahdella tapaa. Nopean voi tehdä käyttämällä sukkahousuja (tavallisia tai tiuhan mallin verkkosukkiksia) ja tyynyn täytettä, mutta löytyykö sukkiksiakaan punaisten hiusten sävyissä? No eipä tietenkään. Auttaneeko tässä sitten muu kuin omien hiusten talteen kerääminen. Ja niitä tuli sitten kerättyä kahden vuoden ajan omasta hiusharjasta. Näin ainakin saa parhaimman värin omaan valkkiinsa. :)
Pitkä prosessi oli tämäkin ja nyt valkkeja on kaksi, toinen isompi ja toinen pienempi. En tohdi näyttää niitä, koska ne nyt näyttävät...no.. rotilta.. (hair rat, kuten englanniksi niitä sanotaan).
Mutta hommansa ne hoitavat kuten pitääkin. Ne ovat tukevat ja muhkeat kun otsahiukset on kieritetty sen ympärille ja se on aseteltu pinneillä hyvin kiinni.

I've had "normal" bangs, but it never looked as good as I wanted. I've got pretty basic finnish hair, fine, thin and scarce from the forehead area. Due to these previous "problems", I could never pull correct Bettie Page bangs with my own hair, it just would look pathetic. So I needed a hair rat to give support and volume. But does anybody make commercial hair rats for red heads, nope! One can find black, brunette and blonde (conspiracy of b:s), but red...? Oh, no,no,no,no!
Well, then I need to make one, simple as that.
There are at least two ways of making a hair rat. Fast one is to fill piece of a stocking (average or tight fishnet) with pillow filling and then stitch it together (there are Youtube videos for that).
But... Yup, there is once again a but... God dammit, no-one makes friggin' tights to mach my head(colour), why is that!?! :D
Then, the classic way is the only way for me. :) I needed to collect my own hair for about two years to make a proper hair rat for myself. Every week I collected hair from my hairbrush and now I have two hair rats, one smaller than the other. I wont show them, cause they look like... well rats...
Although they look quite inappropriate, they do work like a dream. They give volume and plenty of support and they are still very light in weight.
Now, at least I got the best possible colour to mach my hair. :) Your own haircolour just blends in better if there should be any tiny gaps in your roll. :)
